“Cyprus at the National Library of France” Exhibition Inaugurated

The exhibition “Chypre à la Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF)” was inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, and the President of France, Mr. Emmanuel Macron. The exhibition, a collaboration between the Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus and the BnF, aims to highlight the history, culture, and timeless European dimension of Cyprus. This is a historically significant initiative, as it is the first time the BnF has organized an exhibition in collaboration with a foreign organization, presenting exhibits from Cyprus. The exhibition includes archaeological treasures, manuscripts, drawings, engravings, and archival documents that tell the story of the island from antiquity to the modern era. Particular emphasis is placed on the ties between Cyprus and France and Europe, as well as the Orthodox Byzantine tradition. The exhibition also presents the works of Louis François Cassas and the Cypriot collections of the BnF, including manuscripts, coins, maps, and works of art. The event underscores the importance of the cultural identity of Cyprus and its enduring relationship with Europe. Representatives of the governments of France, Greece, and UNESCO, as well as cultural figures, attended the inauguration.
