Cyprus Invited Erdogan to EU Informal Summit, Turkey's Response 'Not Positive': President

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, revealed that Cyprus extended an invitation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to participate in the informal EU Summit to be held in Cyprus. The invitation was made with the aim of fostering positive developments in relations between the EU and Turkey. However, the initial response from the Turkish side was not positive, which surprised Cyprus. President Christodoulides stated that Cyprus had also approached other European institutions and member states with good relations with Turkey, proposing the invitation of Erdogan or other Turkish representatives to related meetings. Despite the negative response, Cyprus will not cease its efforts to achieve positive developments and improve relations with Turkey.
