Cyprus Urged to Submit National Building Renovation Plan to EU

The European Commission has initiated infringement proceedings against Cyprus, along with other EU member states, for failing to submit their national building renovation plans (NRRPs) by the deadline of December 31, 2025. NRRPs are a key tool for improving the energy efficiency of buildings by 2050. Cyprus is being urged to submit its NRRP without further delay to ensure the necessary investment stability and predictability for the implementation of the revised directive (EU) 2024/1275. This delay could affect Cyprus's climate and energy strategy. The Commission is calling on member states to respond to the warning letter within two months and submit their plans. If there is no satisfactory response, the Commission may send a reasoned opinion. The timely submission of NRRPs is crucial for achieving national and EU climate and energy goals, as well as for attracting investment in the field of energy upgrading of buildings.
