EU Commission Invests Additional €650 Million in Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure

The European Commission announced on Wednesday that it will allocate nearly €650 million in grants through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to fund 14 cross-border energy projects. These projects aim to strengthen the EU's energy security, better integrate renewable energy sources, and ultimately increase Europe's competitiveness. For the first time, the CEF will fund projects to protect critical energy infrastructure and hydrogen projects. Funding is allocated to electricity infrastructure and hydrogen infrastructure projects, with significant investments in Spain, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Greece-Egypt.
