Limassol Welcomes 2026 with Music and Festivities

Limassol is gearing up to welcome 2026 with a grand celebration in Grigoris Auxentiou Square, concluding the festive events that began on November 29th with the lighting of the Christmas tree. The program includes workshops, musical performances, and visits from Santa Claus to various neighborhoods of the city. The highlight of the events will be the "Paei o Palios o Chronos" (The Old Year is Going) concert featuring renowned artists such as Liza Theofanous, Dimitris Mesimeris, Katerina Parashou, and Lefteris Pitsillidis, accompanied by an eight-member musical ensemble. Limassol Mayor, Yannis Armeftis, has invited residents and visitors to join the festive atmosphere and celebrate the arrival of the new year together. The event will commence at 9:30 PM with the "On Broadway Show" and continue with the concert. A traditional countdown will precede the New Year's arrival. Independence Street will be pedestrianized for the occasion, and the Municipality expresses hope for favorable weather conditions. Respecting animals and individuals sensitive to noise, fireworks will not be displayed. Throughout December, Independence Street was already transformed into a pedestrian zone on weekends, hosting artistic events, dance performances, and musical groups. Concerts were also held at the Pattichio Theater and various cultural venues in the city, with the Philharmonic concerts featuring Doros Demosthenous and Aliki Chrysouchou, as well as the Symphony Orchestra, being particularly successful.
