Spain Officially Recalls Ambassador to Israel

Spain has decided to officially recall its ambassador from Israel, escalating the diplomatic dispute between the two countries. The move comes in response to Israeli criticism of Spanish measures restricting the transfer of weapons to Israel, due to the war in Gaza, which Spain has labeled as antisemitic. The ambassador was initially recalled to Spain last September, and this decision marks a further deterioration of relations. The Spanish embassy in Tel Aviv will be temporarily headed by a chargé d'affaires. Meanwhile, Israel has also recalled its ambassador from Spain in protest of Spain's recognition of a Palestinian state. Tensions have increased since the start of the war in Gaza and the recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran, with the Israeli Foreign Minister accusing Spain of 'taking the side of tyrants' due to its criticism of the war.
