US and Israel Claim Iranian Regime Collapse Amidst Ongoing Conflict

The US and Israel claim the Islamic Republic of Iran has collapsed after three weeks of war, however analysts point out that they do not control the outcome of the hostilities. While Trump predicted a swift end to the war, the Revolutionary Guards insist the outcome is in their hands. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu claims Iran can no longer manufacture ballistic missiles, a claim refuted by the Guards. According to Pierre Razou, Iran controls the duration of the war, as it is not expected to receive non-aggression guarantees. Iran is pursuing a low-intensity war of attrition. Israeli-American firepower has prevailed, targeting nuclear facilities and centers of power, but Iran is responding with cheap missiles and drones. Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting the flow of 20% of the world's oil and natural gas, and has attacked hydrocarbon production facilities in the Gulf. Despite interceptions, the attacks are causing market disruption. Jack Watling estimates that Iran can maintain a lasting threat to navigation. The war has led to significant damage and losses, but neither side appears to be in a position to impose a decisive victory. The situation remains uncertain and a diplomatic solution seems difficult, given the harsh rhetoric and conflicting interests.
