President Christodoulides Presents Cyprus Presidency Priorities to EP, Emphasizes Unity

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, presented the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU to the European Parliament, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing the challenges facing Europe. The five pillars of the priorities are: Autonomy through Security, Defence and Preparedness, Autonomy through Competitiveness, An Autonomous Union Open to the World (with an emphasis on enlargement), Climate Change and Energy Transition, and Social Convergence. President Christodoulides referred to the need to strengthen the European security architecture, emphasizing that Cyprus, as the last member state under occupation, knows well the value of security. He also expressed Cyprus's support for Ukraine and the EU enlargement.
