Egypt Raises Domestic Fuel Prices by Up to 30%

Egypt raised domestic fuel prices by up to 30% on Tuesday, citing “exceptional” global energy pressures caused by the war in the Middle East, which has disrupted oil supplies and sea routes. The increases, announced by the Ministry of Petroleum, apply to gasoline, diesel and natural gas used in vehicles. “This comes under the shadow of the emergency resulting from the geopolitical developments in the Middle East region and their direct impacts on global energy markets,” the Egyptian Ministry said in a statement. The price increase is expected to affect the cost of living in Egypt.
