Trump Urges Oil Giants to Return to Venezuela

Former US President Donald Trump met with executives from major oil companies at the White House, urging them to invest in Venezuela following the recent arrest of Nicolás Maduro. Trump assured company representatives that their investments would be “absolutely safe” and estimated that over $100 billion could be invested. However, the proposal did not convince everyone, with the CEO of ExxonMobil expressing reservations due to previous seizures of the company’s assets in Venezuela. Chevron, on the other hand, appeared more positive, stating its willingness to help rebuild Venezuela. Trump emphasized that investments would be made under the auspices of the United States, which would determine the companies operating in the country. Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, but its production is limited.
