US Allows Iranian Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz to 'Ensure Global Energy Supply'

The US is allowing Iranian tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in order to “ensure global energy supply,” according to Treasury Secretary Scott Besent. Besent stated that Iranian oil tankers have already begun to exit the area and that the United States is not interfering with their passage. He noted that the market should be supplied and that a natural opening from the Iranians is expected. President Trump stated that he is putting pressure on at least seven countries to intensify efforts to secure and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
