US: Fed Holds Interest Rates Steady

The US Federal Reserve (Fed) decided on Wednesday to keep interest rates unchanged in the range of 3.50% to 3.75%, explaining that economic growth appears “strong”. This decision contrasts with the expectations of two committee members, who voted in favor of a 0.25% rate cut. These two members are Steven Myran and Christopher Waller, with the latter considered a likely successor to Jerome Powell as head of the Fed in May.
