Cyprus Sees Largest Increase in Median Age in EU Over Past Decade

Cyprus is experiencing the largest increase in the median age of its population in the European Union, according to Eurostat data. The median age in Cyprus increased by 4 years over the last decade (2015-2025), from 37 to 41 years old. At the EU level, the median age increased by 2.1 years during the same period. Italy and Slovakia followed Cyprus with significant increases, while Germany and Malta recorded decreases. The median age in the EU is 44.9 years old, ranging from 39.6 in Ireland to 49.1 in Italy. Furthermore, the average age of the native population is 2.1 years higher than that of the foreign-born population.
