Occupied Territories: Strike Due to Non-Payment of Salaries to T/C Employees of CMP

Turkish Cypriot public employees of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) have announced strike action due to the non-payment of their salaries for 43 days. The Turkish Cypriot Public Employees' Union (KTAMS) blames the “Ministry of Finance” for refusing to recognize the signature of the Turkish Cypriot leader, resulting in payment delays. Employees will hold a full-day strike on Monday, February 16, and a protest rally is scheduled outside the “Ministry of Finance” building. This situation highlights the tensions in the occupied territories regarding the recognition of the legitimacy of decisions made by the “presidency” by state services.
