According to the new Eurobarometer, 48% of Cypriots are pessimistic about the future of the European Union, while a significant 75% express optimism about their personal future and that of their families, aligning with the European average. The main concerns of Cypriots revolve around uncontrolled migration flows, natural disasters, and ongoing conflicts. Simultaneously, there is growing anxiety regarding misinformation and hate speech, both online and offline. The research indicates that citizens expect the EU to protect them, be prepared, and act unitedly, as demonstrated in previous crises. A united Europe is considered stronger and more capable of facing challenges. In Cyprus, 90% of citizens believe that the EU should contribute more to their security. Thea Pieridou, Head of the European Parliament's Office in Cyprus, emphasized that citizens desire a more united and active Europe. The survey is conducted twice a year, and the results highlight the need to strengthen cooperation and solidarity within the EU. Notably, a large 65% of Cypriots believe that Cyprus's participation in the EU is very positive, indicating strong public support for European integration.
