Δεν θέλουμε τίποτα άλλο από ειρήνη και ηρεμία, αλλά αν κάποιος έχει βλέψεις στα εδάφη μας, δεν θα διστάσουμε να απαντήσουμε, δήλωσε ο Τούρκος πρόεδρος Ρετζέπ Ταγίπ Ερντογάν.
Σύμφωνα με όσα μεταδίδει από την Κωνσταντινούπολη ο ανταποκριτής του ΣΚΑΪ Μανώλης Κωστίδης, ο Ερντογάν δήλωσε: «Δεν θα πέσουμε στην παγίδα κανενός. Η Τουρκία δεν είναι οποιαδήποτε χώρα. Ο τουρκικός λαός δεν είναι οποιοσδήποτε λαός, και όσοι θέλουν να δουν τον χαρακτήρα μας ας κοιτάξουν την Κύπρο, τον πόλεμο της Ανεξαρτησίας μας, ας δουν τη νίκη μας στα Δαρδανέλια».

Αναφερόμενος στον πόλεμο στο Ιράν ο Τούρκος πρόεδρος, σύμφωνα με το Al Jazeera, δήλωσε ότι πρέπει να τερματιστεί πριν εξαπλωθεί σε ολόκληρη την περιοχή με αυξανόμενο κόστος για την παγκόσμια οικονομία.
«Αυτός ο πόλεμος πρέπει να σταματήσει πριν επεκταθεί και καταστρέψει ολοσχερώς την περιοχή» είπε, προειδοποιώντας ότι αν συνεχιστεί «θα υπάρξουν περισσότερες απώλειες ζωών και περιουσιών, και το κόστος για την παγκόσμια οικονομία θα αυξηθεί ακόμη περισσότερο».
Erdogan: We Want Peace, But Will Respond to Any Provocation – Cyprus as a Warning
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey desires peace but will respond to any threat to its national sovereignty. He warned those who question Turkey to consider its history, specifically mentioning Cyprus, the War of Independence, and the victory at Gallipoli. Erdogan emphasized that Turkey has no territorial ambitions but will react decisively to any challenge. Furthermore, Erdogan expressed concern over the war in Iran, warning that an escalation of the conflict would have severe economic consequences for the entire region and the global economy. He called for an immediate end to hostilities before the situation spirals out of control and causes further loss of life and property damage. The Turkish president underscored that Turkey is not an ordinary country and the Turkish people are not an ordinary people, reiterating his determination to defend his country's interests. His statement comes at a time of heightened regional tension and geopolitical challenges. Erdogan's warning to those seeking adventure, coupled with his reference to Cyprus, is seen by many as an indirect reference to the actions of Greece and its allies in the Eastern Mediterranean. Turkey has repeatedly expressed its opposition to hydrocarbon explorations in the region, considering them a violation of its rights.
