Commissioner for the Environment: Tillyria Represents Resilience

The Commissioner for the Environment, Antonia Theodosiou, representing the Government, stated that Tillyria represents an example of resilience, perseverance and contribution. Speaking at a doxology for the national anniversaries of March 25th and April 1st in Tillyria, she emphasized the importance of unity, responsibility and commitment to the goal of reunification of Cyprus. Ms. Theodosiou mentioned that the Republic of Cyprus is working to strengthen its international position, utilizing its participation in the European Union and developing strategic partnerships. She also highlighted the priority given to the welfare of citizens, environmental protection and the creation of prospects for the new generations. The Commissioner for the Environment linked the Annunciation of the Theotokos with the national rebirth of 1821, emphasizing the importance of faith and love for freedom in the history of Hellenism. She underlined the connection of Cyprus with the struggle of 1821 and the confrontation of its own historical ordeal on April 1, 1955. Finally, Ms. Theodosiou honored the fighters and those who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of Cyprus, as well as those who endured the consequences of the events of 1974, emphasizing the importance of memory and the preservation of historical continuity.
