Bishop of Karpasia: Decision on Allegations Clears His Name

The Bishop of Karpasia, Christoforos, stated that the decision regarding allegations of transferring funds to his personal accounts clears his name, as no criminal offense is apparent. The police deemed the case non-existent, according to a letter from the Crime Detection Department (TAE). The allegations concerned the period 2020-2021, with claims that the Bishop transferred funds from contributions of the Pan-Cypriot Parents Association (PEA) to his personal accounts. The Bishop had made himself available to the authorities for a full investigation. According to information from the Ministry of Justice and the Police, the Attorney General's decision was that no criminal offense was apparent, resulting in the case being considered non-existent by the Police. The Bishop expressed regret for the scandal caused by the publicity of the case and apologized. However, a letter from the complainant expresses disagreement with the outcome of the case and raises questions to the competent authorities. The TAE Limassol had fully investigated the complaint and the file was submitted to the Legal Service, which concluded that no offense had been committed.
