Audit Committee: Uncollected Revenues, Foreclosures and Understaffing at the Land Registry

The Parliamentary Control Committee investigated the Auditor General's Report on the Department of Lands and Surveys and found serious problems. Uncollected revenues of €18.5 million in 2024 (an increase of €3 million compared to 2023), foreclosures of properties, understaffing and delays in serving citizens are the main issues. Weaknesses were also identified in the monitoring of state land lease agreements and illegal leases, as well as a problematic process for allocating state land. The Committee stressed the need for improved staffing and transparency.
