President Attempts to Smooth Over Rift with Nikolas Papadopoulos

President Christodoulides attempted to downplay the public rift with the leader of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, which was triggered by statements and criticism regarding the GSI. Instead of directly addressing the accusations, the President chose to highlight the government's successes and implemented reforms, emphasizing that cooperation with DIKO remains important and productive. Christodoulides stressed that DIKO's contribution, as well as that of other parties supporting the government, was crucial in significant reforms such as tax transformation and teacher evaluation. He also pointed to positive economic results, including growth and the upgrading of Cyprus's international position. Regarding Papadopoulos's concerns about the cost of supporting the government for his party, the President stated that he respects the views of all political leaders. He clarified that the statements made by the Minister of Labor were personal and did not represent the government, while remaining open to a meeting with the DIKO leader. Finally, the President referred to the improvement in immigration policy, attributing this development to the cooperation between the government and its supporting parties.
