Successful Sea Trial for Greece-Cyprus Interconnection Cable

The sea trial of the underwater electric cables for the Greece-Cyprus interconnection project (Great Sea Interconnector) was successfully completed in a marine area west of Sicily. Nexans, the company manufacturing the cables, announced that the trial confirmed the technical feasibility of the project, as it was demonstrated that the cables can be installed and operated safely at a depth of 3,000 meters. The trial included the installation and retrieval of cable sections, as well as high-voltage electrical tests. The data collected will be analyzed to ensure the quality and certification of the project.
