OSAK Calls for Withdrawal of Bill on Physiotherapy and Acupuncture

OSAK and the Cyprus Association of Acupuncture Physiotherapists are calling for the withdrawal of the proposed law on physiotherapy and acupuncture, arguing that it brings together practices of dubious effectiveness and endangers the public health system. OSAK expresses concern about the lack of evidence-based practice and the legalization of techniques without proven value. Additionally, it points out ambiguities in the training framework of professionals and the possibility of misdiagnoses and treatments due to inadequate medical training. OSAK cites the World Health Organization, emphasizing the need for strict safety and efficacy assessment before such practices are integrated into health systems, as well as the protection of patients from unscientific methods. They urge parties to withdraw the bill, as they believe it creates confusion and substitutes for evidence-based therapies.
