Education Committee to Initiate Dialogue on Teacher Evaluation Bill

The Parliamentary Committee on Education concluded its session regarding the bill for the evaluation of teachers. The Committee President, Pavlos Mylonas, announced the commencement of an informal dialogue with the Ministry of Education and educational organizations alongside the article-by-article discussion of the bill. The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, described the evaluation system as modern, flexible, and implementable, stating her willingness to listen to concerns but not to satisfy all requests. POED expressed its disagreement with the legislation, emphasizing that it is not consensual, while OELMEK pointed out deficiencies, weaknesses, and ambiguities in the text. The Committee committed to trying to improve the plan as much as possible, while the Minister of Education stressed the maturity and responsibility to move the process forward. SEDMEK expressed a desire to have been involved in the dialogue from the beginning.
