The Cochlear and Other Auditory Implant Center of the General Hospital of Nicosia has successfully performed cochlear implant surgeries on two seven-month-old infants, a pioneering development that places the center at the forefront of international practices. Early implantation, now performed on children from 6 months instead of 9, is considered crucial for the development of speech, communication, and social integration. The success of the surgeries is attributed to the high level of organization, specialized expertise, and close collaboration between otolaryngologists, anesthesiologists, audiologists, pediatricians, geneticists, and nursing staff. The center continues to pioneer, offering patients the opportunity to hear sooner, with safety and scientific excellence.
