Dramatic Chase: Stole a Pickup Truck, Burned Documents, and Hit a Patrol Car While Trying to Escape

A 33-year-old Cypriot man was arrested after a dramatic chase in Xylofagou, after crashing a stolen vehicle into a British Bases Police patrol car. The man had previously burned the vehicle's documents and removed the license plates, attempting to escape. During the chase, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the patrol car. The suspect was taken into custody and will be tried on February 26th. The arrest was made following information from the Cyprus Police. He is also allegedly involved in a burglary from a house under construction in Ormideia last December. After his arrest, it was found that the suspect was under the influence of methamphetamine and cannabis. A small amount of drugs and a folding knife were found in his possession. An arrest warrant was also outstanding against him for drug-related offenses from September of last year. The suspect faces charges of theft, drug possession, carrying a knife, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and other traffic violations. The Cyprus Police and the British Bases Police are working closely together to prevent and solve crimes.
