Macron, Christodoulides, and Mitsotakis Conclude Cyprus Visit with Military Base Tours

French President Emmanuel Macron and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis concluded their visit to Cyprus with visits to military installations. Macron visited the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, while Christodoulides and Mitsotakis visited the Greek Navy frigate Kimon. The three leaders held a trilateral meeting in Paphos, discussing issues of security, stability, and geopolitical balance in the Eastern Mediterranean. During the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in defense and security, emphasizing that their countries are not involved in military conflicts but seek to ensure peace and stability in the region. Their cooperation is based on respect for international law and the promotion of regional stability. Macron's visit was prepared with the arrival of a support aircraft from the French Republic at the “Andreas Papandreou” airbase. Simultaneously, Christodoulides and Mitsotakis visited, away from the public eye, the airbase where the Greek F-16 fighter jets are located. The trilateral meeting took place in an atmosphere of cooperation and a common strategic approach, with the leaders exchanging views on current regional developments and expressing their willingness to further strengthen their cooperation.
