President Expresses Annoyance over Erhurman's Remarks and Olgin's Report. "Ridiculous Argument" to Link Cyprus Issue with Elections

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, responded to remarks by Toufan Erhurman and an article by Maria Angela Olgin regarding delays in the Cyprus talks. He categorically rejected any connection between efforts for the Cyprus issue and the upcoming parliamentary elections, describing such a link as a “ridiculous argument.” He expressed his readiness to hold an expanded meeting, even within the week, with the aim of restarting negotiations from where they left off at Cran Montana, with full respect for the negotiating record. Additionally, he commented on the issue of roadblocks, emphasizing that the Republic of Cyprus has been ready to widen the Agios Dometios road, but received a negative response from the Turkish Cypriot side.
