Drug and Weapon Bust in Larnaca: Grandfather, Son, and Grandson Among Those Arrested

A large-scale operation by the Larnaca YKAN (Drug and Anti-Narcotics Unit) resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, including a 72-year-old, his 39-year-old son, and his 20-year-old grandson, for illegal possession of drugs and weapons. During the searches, 400 grams of cocaine, 150 grams of cannabis, precision scales, ten mobile phones, a pistol with a silencer, a firearm, and €9,605 were confiscated. Five of the arrested were brought before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered their eight-day detention. They are being investigated for offenses of conspiracy, illegal supply and possession of drugs, as well as offenses related to the legalization of proceeds from illegal activities and participation in a criminal organization. One of the 19-year-olds is also charged with possession of a firearm. The Police consider the arrested to be members of a criminal group that was trafficking drugs in the province of Larnaca and are conducting investigations to identify the drug supplier. The suspects, some of whom had been involved with the Police in the past, appear to have been operating independently and are not connected to other recent cases in the area. The YKAN operation was carried out as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle criminal organizations. The Police will also conduct financial investigations into the assets of the suspects.
