EPP and Far-Right Align on Restarting Turnberry Agreement

The European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament appears to have allied with far-right factions to push for the resumption of negotiations on the Turnberry Agreement with the United States. The discussion regarding the restart of regular legislative procedures concluded without a decision at a meeting of the International Trade Committee (INTA), with committee chair Bernd Lange stating that the decision rests with the EP's negotiating team. The negotiating team will reconvene on Wednesday, February 4th, to reassess the situation. Socialists, Greens, Renew, and the Left opposed the resumption of procedures, while the EPP, European Conservatives, and Patriots for Europe were in favor. The Turnberry Agreement concerns potential trade negotiations between the EU and the US.
