EKYS: Pension Increases of Only €14-€17 per Month in 2026

EKYS announced that pensions in Cyprus will increase by 3.38% in their basic component from January 2026. This translates to monthly increases ranging from €14 to €17. The full basic pension will reach €529.82, the minimum at €450.35, and the social pension at €429.15. There will be no increase in the supplementary pension component. The organization points out that over 100,000 elderly people in Cyprus receive pensions between €429 and €1,000, amounts considered insufficient for a decent standard of living, especially given the burden of rising prices. EKYS emphasizes that the poverty line, according to its calculations, should be above €1,000 for a single person and €1,500 for a two-person household, however, it has remained unchanged since 2013. In light of the upcoming pension reform, EKYS calls on the government to take substantial decisions to genuinely support and increase pensions, ensuring a decent standard of living for all pensioners.
