Οι Ιρανικές Ενοπλες Δυνάμεις δεν στόχευσαν την Κύπρο, την Τουρκία ή το Αζερμπαϊτζάν, δήλωσε ο Εκπρόσωπος του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών στην Τεχεράνη.
Ο Εσμαΐλ Μπαγκάι, Εκπρόσωπος του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών του Ιράν, αρνήθηκε οποιαδήποτε ιρανική επίθεση εναντίον της Τουρκίας, του Αζερμπαϊτζάν και της Κύπρου, λέγοντας ότι πρόκειται για προβοκάτσια (false flag attacks, επίθεση ψευδούς σημαίας).
Επίσης, υποβάθμισε την πιθανότητα εκεχειρίας όσο συνεχίζονται οι επιθέσεις, ανέφερε τη Δευτέρα το Ιρανικό Δίκτυο Φοιτητικών Ειδήσεων, προσθέτοντας ότι το Ιράν θα συνεχίσει να αμύνεται.
«Δεν υπάρχει λόγος να μιλάμε για οτιδήποτε άλλο εκτός από την άμυνα και τα συντριπτικά αντίποινα εναντίον των εχθρών», δήλωσε ο Εσμαΐλ Μπαγκάι.
Επανέλαβε ότι η Τεχεράνη δεν έχει πόλεμο να διεξάγει με τους μουσουλμάνους γείτονές της, αλλά πρέπει να στοχεύσει «εγκαταστάσεις που χρησιμοποιούνται από τους επιτιθέμενους» για τη νόμιμη άμυνά της.
