Greek Parliament Approves Extension for Hotel Operating Licenses

The Greek Parliament has passed a law extending the deadline for securing operating licenses for hotels and tourist accommodations by one year, until November 30, 2026. Simultaneously, it introduces a new special regime for the safe operation of units that cannot comply with existing obligations. The law provides for the issuance of special operating licenses with strict conditions and improves the process of examining fire safety studies by the Fire Department. It also increases the time frame for examining fire safety studies from 30 days to 6 months and provides for a uniform and standardized examination process. Finally, it modifies the validity of fire safety certificates, making them three years with the possibility of renewal for two additional years.
