EU: Concern over High Energy Prices - Reassuring about Supply

The European Commission expressed concern over high energy prices but reassured that Europe's energy supply remains secure despite supply chain disruptions due to the war in the Middle East. Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen emphasized that EU member states have sufficient oil and natural gas reserves. The EU has diversified its energy supply sources, combining pipelines and LNG from various suppliers. Norway and the United States are the main natural gas suppliers, while the EU does not import oil or natural gas from Iran. All member states have oil reserves for 90 days, and natural gas reserves are at high levels.
