Farmers Protest Outside Presidential Palace Over Mass Animal Culling

Farmers from various regions of Cyprus protested outside the Presidential Palace, demanding an end to the mass culling of animals. The protesters, carrying a black coffin symbolizing each animal lost, accuse the Veterinary Services of lacking information and the Minister of Agriculture of making false statements. They also protest the arrests of farmers who object to sampling, requesting official documents proving the presence of foot-and-mouth disease in their animals. The protest caused traffic regulations in the area, with a strong police presence. The farmers are expected to submit a memorandum to a Presidential representative, demanding compliance with European protocols.
