Limassol Municipality Wins Two Green City Awards

The Municipality of Limassol has been recognized in two categories of the Pan-Cypriot "Green Cities and Green Communities of Cyprus 2025" awards, organized by the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education (KYKPEE). The first award is in the "Sustainable Mobility and Transport" category, where the Municipality received the "Green City of Cyprus 2025" award for the "Limassol Moves Green" project, which promotes sustainable mobility solutions such as on-demand minibuses and e-bikes. The project scored 902/1000. The second award is in the "Climate Change, Environmental Standards and e-Governance" category, where the Municipality was honored for the "Limassol Climate Contract" project, a holistic approach to achieving climate neutrality by 2030. The project scored 887/1000 and represents the Municipality's official framework for addressing climate change, integrating strategic planning, modern governance tools, and participatory processes. The Municipality of Limassol recognizes these awards as confirmation of the systematic effort being made to integrate sustainable practices into the operation and strategic planning of the city. The "Limassol Moves Green" initiative aims to promote easier and cleaner mobility, enhancing the transition to less car use and improving accessibility and public space. With these awards, the Municipality of Limassol joins the Network of Green Cities and Communities of Cyprus, created by KYKPEE, underlining its commitment to continuous improvement of its environmental performance and the promotion of sustainable development.
