Dr. Stavros Malas: Rising Sea Levels Threaten Half of Cyprus' Beaches

Dr. Stavros Malas warned that a one-meter rise in sea level by the end of the century will endanger half of Cyprus' beaches if immediate measures are not taken. Speaking at an international conference on natural resource management, he stated that climate change will lead to a temperature increase of 3-5 degrees, prolonged heatwaves, and extreme weather events. Commissioner for the Environment, Antonia Theodosiou, emphasized the importance of implementing the strategy for natural resource management, as well as creating a reliable regional action framework with realistic goals and indicators.
