Dromolaxia–Meneou: Extension of Disinfection Tanks to 9 Meters – Animal Vaccinations to Begin

The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou is taking measures to address the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, increasing the length of the disinfection tanks to 9 meters and placing signs in livestock areas. Animal vaccinations are also expected to begin in the coming days. The Municipality is in constant communication with the Department of Agriculture and provides psychological support to farmers through the Mental Health Services of the OKYPY. Disinfection tanks have been constructed in various livestock areas (Dromolaxia A', Dromolaxia B', Softades, Tersefanou) and passages have been closed to restrict traffic. Spraying is carried out by state services with drugs that meet EU safety standards. The death of a 73-year-old farmer in a livestock area of Dromolaxia was attributed to cardiac arrest, possibly due to the prevailing anxiety. The Municipality had informed farmers about biosecurity measures and the construction of the tanks.
