President Announces Strict Measures Following Violent Clashes in Larnaca

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, condemned the violent clashes that took place in Larnaca, describing them as “unacceptable”. He announced strict measures to address the violence and ensure justice is served. The President is in contact with the Minister of Justice and stressed that there will be no attempt to gloss over the situation. Police are proceeding with the arrests of those involved, and in the event of foreign nationals being involved, they will be immediately arrested and deported, and placed on a stop list to prevent their re-entry into the country. Regarding the possible involvement of Cypriot citizens, the President mentioned the need for “exemplary punishment” due to the severity of the images that have come to light.
