Οι εισαγγελείς του Διεθνούς Ποινικούς Δικαστηρίου δήλωσαν σήμερα ότι ξεκίνησε μια έρευνα για πράξεις απέλασης που φαίνεται πως διαπράχθηκαν από τη Λευκορωσία.
Η Λευκορωσία δεν είναι μέλος του ΔΠΔ, αλλά η υπόθεση κατατέθηκε από τη Λιθουανία, η οποία είναι μέλος.
Οι εισαγγελείς διαπίστωσαν ότι τουλάχιστον μέρος των φερόμενων εγκλημάτων διαπράχθηκε από τις αρχές της Λευκορωσίας στην επικράτεια της Λιθουανίας, γεγονός που τους παρέχει τη δικαιοδοσία.

ICC Launches Investigation into Alleged Crimes Committed by Belarus
Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court (ICC) have launched an investigation into alleged acts of deportation committed by Belarus. Although Belarus is not a member of the ICC, the investigation is proceeding following a complaint from Lithuania, a member state. Prosecutors have determined that at least some of the alleged crimes were committed within Lithuanian territory, giving the ICC jurisdiction. The investigation focuses on potential violations of international law related to the deportation of individuals.
