The Attorney General has appointed an independent criminal investigator, former Supreme Court Judge Andreas Paschalidis, to investigate the controversial video posted on 'X' by the account 'Emily Thompson' on January 8, 2026. The investigation will be conducted in cooperation with the Police and will examine any criminal offense that may have been committed in connection with the video, including its content, authenticity, origin, and the motives for its creation and publication. Mr. Paschalidis has been instructed to investigate all issues related to the video without restrictions. This includes assessing the legality of its creation and dissemination, as well as identifying those responsible. The investigation must be completed within three months, giving the investigator sufficient time to collect and analyze all relevant evidence. The Attorney General used the powers conferred by Article 4(2) of the Criminal Procedure Law (Chapter 155) to make the appointment. The appointment of the independent criminal investigator indicates the seriousness with which the government is treating the issue of the controversial video and its determination to fully investigate the circumstances under which it was created and published.
