Double Tragedy in Sotira: 19-Year-Old Kristina and 48-Year-Old Kyriakos Pass Away Hours Apart

Sotira is in mourning following the tragic deaths of two local residents, 19-year-old Kristina Achilleos and 48-year-old Kyriakos Spyrou, just hours apart. Kristina lost her life in a car accident on Agias Theklas Avenue when the vehicle she was travelling in collided with a concrete barrier. Despite all passengers wearing seatbelts and the driver testing negative for alcohol and drugs, Kristina succumbed to her injuries. Another 19-year-old is hospitalized in serious condition, while the driver and a passenger sustained injuries. Meanwhile, Kyriakos Spyrou, a father of two and employee of the Sotira Municipality and the Famagusta District Administration, passed away after a long illness. Kyriakos was also known in the sports community, having served as a football player and coach. The deaths of both individuals have plunged the local community into grief, and Kyriakos' funeral will be held on Thursday at the Church of the Resurrection of the Savior. Both individuals were well-loved, and their loss has caused great sadness in the Famagusta province. Police are investigating the circumstances of the road accident.
