University of Frederick Hosts Conference on Cultivating Digital Consciousness

The University of Frederick is organizing a two-day conference titled “Cultivating a Digital Consciousness in the Current Digital World” on May 4th and 5th in Nicosia and Limassol, as part of the European project EUDACY. The conference, under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency 2026, aims to promote public dialogue regarding digital transition, rights, and European values. Emphasis is placed on fostering digital awareness and critical thinking, with the participation of academics, students, and civil society. Dr. Konstantinos Kouroupis highlighted the importance of digital literacy for the quality of democracy and the need for critical thinking and a moral compass in utilizing technology. The conference aspires to enhance knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of users in the digital age. The first day of the conference in Nicosia will feature panels with representatives from institutional bodies, academics, and judicial officials, who will present topics related to the protection of digital rights, privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The second day in Limassol will focus on roundtable discussions among students on issues of digital security and literacy, such as democracy in the digital age and the impact of artificial intelligence on human relationships. The event is aimed at a broad audience and seeks to strengthen knowledge and participation in the dialogue about the digital future of Europe and Cyprus.
