Widow Poisoned Husband for $4 Million and to Run Away with Lover, Wrote Grief Book!

Kouri Ritchins, 35, was found guilty of the murder of her husband, Eric Ritchins, in March 2022. The prosecution accused Ritchins of poisoning her husband with fentanyl in order to inherit his $4 million estate and start a relationship with her lover. During the trial, it was revealed that Ritchins was facing serious financial problems, had taken out life insurance on her husband, and was having an affair. Alongside her criminal activity, Ritchins presented a different image to the public, as a mother of three and author of a children's book on dealing with grief. Her book, titled “Are You With Me?”, was dedicated to her husband and promoted on local television shows. In reality, the writing of the book had been outsourced to a company, and Ritchins' mother sent it to the sheriff's office, presenting it as proof of her daughter's devotion to her husband. The prosecution also presented a letter found in Ritchins' cell, in which she appeared to be instructing her brother on what to say about the procurement of fentanyl from Mexico. The case caused a sensation in the US, due to the contrast between Ritchins' public image and her heinous act. Ritchins was arrested in May 2023, when her finances had collapsed. The trial showed that the murder was premeditated and financially motivated. The children's book she wrote was used by the prosecution as incriminating evidence, proving her hypocrisy.
