Second 'No' to Life Prisoner Seeking Protection Order in Central Prisons

The Supreme Court rejected for the second time an application by a life prisoner in the Central Prisons, who was seeking a court order to protect his safety, health and dignity. The Court ruled that the request was general and abusive, as it did not relate to a specific act or omission by the Prison Department. The applicant, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for two counts of premeditated murder, had submitted a similar application in the past, which was also rejected. The Court stressed that the fundamental human rights of prisoners are protected, but this protection cannot be ensured through general orders. The prisoner has the right to appeal to the civil courts in case of violation of his rights.
