No Evidence of Assault on Paphos Mayor's Wife, Investigations into Turkish Cypriot Properties Ongoing

Investigations into the management of Turkish Cypriot properties in the Municipality of Paphos are ongoing, with the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service expected to complete its investigation of leasing cases by March 25th. The findings will be submitted to the Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, within two weeks. According to information, the majority of the cases examined have not revealed irregularities, beyond cases where there has been a change in the purpose of use of the properties. For example, properties granted for the creation of green spaces were ultimately used as parking areas. However, no concessions for profit have been identified so far. Four to five additional cases remain under investigation by the Ministry of Interior, following relevant complaints, and are expected to be completed within March. These files concern cases where the properties were claimed by refugees, but the competent Committee deemed it more beneficial to grant them to the Municipality. Checks on these cases have also been carried out in the past. In parallel, the case of the alleged assault on the wife of the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, appears not to be proceeding legally due to a lack of evidence to prove the assault. The police have not found any evidence to support the charge.
