Olguin Reports Lack of Progress on Confidence-Building Measures

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguin, stated that there has been no significant progress on the issue of Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) in Cyprus. Without progress on the CBMs, she considers it difficult to convene a comprehensive conference on the Cyprus issue. Ms. Holguin met with President Christodoulides and will meet with the T/C leader Erhurman, hoping for a positive development. Tomorrow, the methodology for achieving progress on the CBMs will be discussed, while a lack of progress will make it difficult to organize a 5+1 meeting next month.
