“Erhurman Has Not Yet Responded to the President” for a New Meeting - What the UN Says

There has been no response yet from the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, to President Christodoulides' proposal for a new meeting, according to a UN source. The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus, Hasim Diyan, will meet with Mr. Erhurman on Monday, while there are no plans for the immediate return of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin. President Christodoulides has conveyed the political will of the Greek Cypriot side to resume substantial negotiations, while Mr. Diyan has assured that the UN is ready to facilitate any meeting. The Greek Cypriot side has proposed a specific date for a meeting within April, but has not yet received a response. The lack of response from the Turkish Cypriot side creates uncertainty about the prospect of resuming negotiations. The Greek Cypriot side remains committed to finding a solution to the Cyprus problem, but requires concrete evidence of the Turkish Cypriot side's willingness to contribute to this effort.
