School Attendants Give Time to the Ministry for their Salary

A Pan-Cypriot assembly of School Attendants for Children with Disabilities was held on Monday, with members of the SEK and PEO trade unions. An announcement co-signed by the trade unions OEKDY SEK, PASEU PEO and PASYEK PEO states that the Pan-Cypriot Assembly of School Attendants for Children with Disabilities authorized the leadership of the trade unions to discuss with the Director General of the Ministry of Education the issue of upgrading their salary scale in a scheduled meeting on March 10. “In case there is no substantial discussion – negotiation, with the aim of reaching an agreement within March 2026, a unanimous decision was made to take strike measures within a defined timetable,” the announcement states. The problems faced by the attendants include tasks assigned to them that they do not have the authority to perform, the assignment of more than one child (2-5) to each Attendant, insufficient training and increased responsibility for children with special needs.
