Kourion Mayor: Alert Levels Have Decreased

The Mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou, stated that the situation is generally calm and alert levels have decreased, as the past night was quiet. People are continuing their daily routines, and residents of the Monastery have been informed that everything is okay and food provision is being prepared. Mr. Georgiou mentioned that they are awaiting updates from the British Bases and the Cypriot Republic regarding the duration of the alert and when residents will be able to return to their homes. A meeting with the British Bases and a phone call with the Ministry of Interior are expected for further instructions. The Deputy Mayor of Akrotiri, Giorgos Konstantinou, confirmed that the situation is calm and that approximately 30 people remained in the area. He pointed out that official instructions will be given after the meeting with the British Bases, while until then, the return to homes is at their own risk. Mr. Konstantinou mentioned that many residents visited the community to carry out work, but no mass return to homes was observed. The instructions remain the same as yesterday, until further updates are available.
