The European Parliament has approved a €90 billion loan to Ukraine for the years 2026 and 2027, as part of the ongoing support for the country amid the Russian invasion. Of this amount, €30 billion will be allocated for macroeconomic financial assistance and the remaining €60 billion for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. The funding will be subject to strict conditions regarding democratic governance, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights. The loan will be financed through joint EU borrowing, and Ukraine will repay it when it receives war reparations from Russia. Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia are not participating in the loan support.
